On Thursday, 15 October 2026 the Alfred Duma Local Municipality officially introduced a contractor for the Burford 3km Gravel Road construction project valued in Ward 14.
The 3km road will be split between Hopesland, Sgodiphola and Maswazini areas at 1 kilometre for each area. The Alfred Duma Local Municipality Mayor, Cllr Z.J. Sibisi officially introduced the contractor to the community in a meeting held at the Burford community hall. This project forms part of the municipality’s commitment to improve access roads in the wards. Also forming part of the meeting were Induna Kunene, ward councillor, Cllr. M.M Khoza, ward committee members and the community of ward 14.
Black Transport & Logistics (Pty) Ltd is the contractor appointed to construct the 3km gravel road. The four-month project will create 12 local job opportunities inclusive of general workers, security guards and one Community Liaison Officer (CLO).
His Worship the Mayor in his address to the community urged community members to protect infrastructure and work closely with the contractor to ensure that the project is completed on time and within the budget.
