Warburton's Sewer Infrastructure Takes Shape as Mayor Hands Over Project
Warburton, 24 August 2026 - Ward 12's sewer reticulation project officially moved into implementation phase on Monday, 24 August 2026, when Executive Mayor Alderwoman M.P. Nkosi handed it over to the appointed contractor in Warburton.
630 households will receive sewer connections, while 630 water-borne toilet top structures will be constructed. The scope of work also includes the installation of sewer pipelines, construction of manholes, testing of the sewer network and connecting the new reticulation system to the existing network.
The project is also creating opportunities within the local community. Phase 1 is expected to create 20 work opportunities. Local businesses will also have an opportunity to participate, with 30% of the project allocated to local SMMEs.
Opportunities include security, plant and equipment hire, toilet construction, ERF connections, tipper trucks and water tanks.
Following the official handover to the contractor, Mayor Nkosi and municipal representatives engaged with residents at the Warburton Sports Ground, providing information on the planned work, the implementation phases and opportunities linked to the project.
