The City of Ekurhuleni is encouraging qualifying residents to apply for indigent support to receive relief on essential municipal services including water, sanitation, electricity and refuse removal. Child-headed and youth-headed households may also qualify under certain conditions. Residents should contact the municipality or visit their nearest customer care centre to apply.

Ekurhuleni's Rooikraal landfill site in Boksburg remains closed for routine maintenance until Thursday, 9 July 2026. Site users can use the Weltevreden, Rietfontein or Platkop landfill sites as alternatives during the closure.

NEW EKURHULENI TARIFFS EFFECTIVE FROM 1 JULY 2026

The City of Ekurhuleni's 2026/27 municipal tariffs are now effective from 1 July 2026 as part of the R70.9 billion budget approved by council. Tariff increases include 5% on property rates, refuse, sewerage and water, and 8.5% on electricity. Pensioners and disabled homeowners are encouraged to apply for rates rebates to ease the financial burden.
