The City of Ekurhuleni wishes to notify artists and patrons of Dumisani Masilela Theatre of its temporary closure for renovations and maintenance from Friday, 15 May 2026 to 31 July 2026.
No external bookings of the facility will be accepted during this period.
The upgrades will comprise of fencing of the facility and stage improvements, as well as roof maintenance.
During this period, the theatre will be partially operational to conclude internal programmes that have already been scheduled as follows:
* The Ekurhuleni Young-Stars Outreach Programme (22 – 27 June 2026) at the main theatre;
* Artistic Masterclass (22 May – 19 July 2026) at overflow venues including main theatre; and
* Youth Month Artistic Programme (15 – 20 June 2026) at the O.R Tambo Cultural Precinct including main theatre.
Alternatively, for theatre venue bookings, the Ken Gampu Theatre in Springs remains open for bookings on 011 999-8950/51.
The city apologizes for the inconvenience this may cause and looks forward to welcoming all theatre lovers to a new and improved facility.
