ENYIBE CONNECTED TO THE GRID
8 July 2026, Enyibe - Infrastructure development remains a key driver of sustainable service delivery and improved access to basic services across communities. This commitment was demonstrated on Tuesday, 7 July 2026, when Msukaligwa Local Municipality (MLM) joined the Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) in witnessing the completion of the Enyibe Electrification Project, implemented by Eskom.
The project forms part of ongoing efforts to expand access to electricity infrastructure, ensuring that more households benefit from a reliable and sustainable electricity supply. Access to electricity supports education, enables economic activity, strengthens community safety and improves the delivery of essential services, making it a critical investment in local development.
The event also reflected the importance of collaboration between municipalities, government stakeholders and state-owned entities in delivering infrastructure that responds to community needs and advances the government's commitment to inclusive development.
In addition to the electrification milestone, the programme included a blanket handover to senior citizens in recognition of the additional challenges many vulnerable households face during the winter season.
MLM Executive Mayor, Alderwoman M.P. Nkosi, and the Executive Mayor of GSDM, Cllr. M.W Mngomezulu welcomed the successful completion of the project and reaffirmed the municipality's commitment to working with strategic partners to support infrastructure development and improve service delivery throughout the municipality.
