IEC : Important clarification: captured does not mean submitted.
A total of 2 274 potential candidates were captured on the Online Candidate Nomination System but were not finally submitted by the 17h00 deadline on 28 August 2026.
This included 480 potential PR candidates and 1 794 potential ward candidates, involving 45 political parties.
Because these candidates were not finally submitted to the Electoral Commission within the statutory deadline, they are not in contention for the 2026 Local Government Elections.
The Electoral Commission will continue with the required verification processes before publishing the final list of candidates on 16 September 2026.
