King Sabata Dalindyebo (KSD) Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr Mkhanyiseli Dudumayo, has announced the appointment of a new Mayoral Committee (MMCs), with members expected to assume their responsibilities with immediate effect.
The appointments follow the election of Cllr Dudumayo as Executive Mayor during a special Council meeting held last week, after the resignation of former Executive Mayor, Cllr Nyaniso Nelani. In accordance with Section 60(a) of the Municipal Structures Act, No. 117 of 1998, the Executive Mayor is mandated to appoint councillors to the Mayoral Committee to assist in carrying out the executive functions of the municipality.
The newly appointed committee is expected to provide political leadership across key municipal portfolios, ensuring continuity in governance, improved service delivery, effective oversight, and the implementation of programmes aimed at improving the lives of residents.
Speaking on the appointments, Executive Mayor Dudumayo said the formation of the new Mayoral Committee is intended to ensure stability and uninterrupted municipal operations.
“These appointments are made in the best interests of our residents and the Municipality. Our immediate priority is to ensure continuity in governance and service delivery while strengthening accountability and responsiveness across all departments. I have every confidence that the Members of the Mayoral Committee will serve our communities with integrity, dedication, and a shared commitment to improving the lives of our people,” said Mayor Dudumayo.
The Mayor further noted that the establishment of the Mayoral Committee reinforces the municipality’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and good governance, while ensuring that residents remain informed about the Municipality’s leadership and decision-making structures.
