Midvaal Local Municipality hosted its second Mayoral Charity Golf Day at Meyerton Golf Course to raise funds for local charities.
The event builds on the success of last year’s inaugural golf day, which brought together the private sector to support local non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and help address social challenges in the community.
This year, the event was supported by businesses and organisations including Nedbank, Heineken Beverages, Standard Bank, Monolta Vaal, Model Liquor Distributors, Jacques Loots Attorneys, Lifeline, Midvaal Chambers of Commerce, Pick ‘n Pay (Meyerton), Tuis Coffee Shop and Lynca Meats.
The municipality recognises that its responsibility extends beyond providing basic services and that addressing social challenges requires collaboration with businesses, community organisations and other stakeholders.
Through this initiative, Midvaal aims to mobilise support for organisations that make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable residents.
This year, the proceeds raised will benefit Ikwezi Lokusa and other lo cal charities .
Ikwezi Lokusa is a care home based in De Deur that provides care and accommodation for adult men living with mental health conditions.
The choice of beneficiary is particularly significant as the event takes place ahead of Movember, a global movement that raises awareness of men’s health, including mental health and suicide prevention.
The event also provides an opportunity to highlight the importance of supporting men’s mental health and overall well-being.
The Mayoral Charity Golf Day is more than a sporting event; it is an opportunity for businesses, stakeholders and the broader Midvaal community to unite in support of a meaningful cause.
