2 min read18 views

Midvaal Local Municipality is making significant progress in the construction of the Lakeside Multipurpose Centre. The Executive Mayor, Alderman Peter Teixeira, conducted an oversight visit to the site to assess progress and ensure that the project remains on track. He was joined by Members of the Mayoral Committee and the Municipal Manager, Mr Phumudzo Magodi. During the visit, it was confirmed that major components of the development have been completed. The astroturf field, tennis courts, ablution facilities, and the 5-a-side football pitch have all been finalised. Construction work on the main hall has also been completed. Only minor outstanding works remain, including water connections to improve water pressure, as well as cosmetic finishes such as paving and landscaping. The Municipality anticipates opening the Lakeside Multipurpose Centre in June 2026. Midvaal continues to invest in the development of recreational spaces, such as the multipurpose centre, for the benefit of our communities. Our vision is to nurture talent, promote healthy lifestyles, and provide safe, accessible spaces for our communities, especially the youth, to remain positively engaged and away from social ills. Midvaal Local Municipality remains committed to delivering infrastructure that improves the quality of life for communities.
