The City of Ekurhuleni acknowledges the planned march scheduled to take place on 30 June 2026 and respects the constitutional right of residents and organisations to express their views through peaceful and lawful protest.
The right to protest is an important part of our democracy. However, this right comes with the responsibility to ensure that all actions remain within the confines of the law. The City calls on all participants to conduct themselves peacefully and responsibly, and to refrain from any acts of intimidation, violence, damage to property, disruption of essential services, or any criminal activity.
The City will continue working closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that the march proceeds in a safe and orderly manner. Law enforcement agencies and City departments have put in place the necessary contingency measures to safeguard residents, protect public infrastructure, and maintain stability across the City.
Residents are assured that service delivery will continue without interruption. The City has activated operational plans to ensure that essential services remain available and that communities continue to receive the support they need during this period.
The City further appeals to all residents to cooperate with officials and to prioritise the safety and wellbeing of our communities. Differences and concerns must be addressed through constructive engagement and lawful processes.
