The official handover of the Lucky Dube Secondary School of Performing Arts in Ermelo

On 3 August 2026, on what would have been the birthday of the late South African music legend Lucky Dube, Msukaligwa Local Municipality joined government leaders, the Dube family and members of the community in celebrating the official handover of the newly completed Lucky Dube Secondary School of Performing Arts to the Mpumalanga Department of Education.
The occasion marked a significant milestone in honouring the enduring legacy of Lucky Dube while reaffirming government's commitment to investing in quality education, arts and culture, and creating opportunities for young people to develop their talents and realise their full potential.
On behalf of Msukaligwa Local Municipality, Executive Mayor Alderwoman M.P. Nkosi welcomed delegates and joined MEC for Education Ms. Lindi Lettie Masina, MEC for Public Works, Roads and Transport Mr. Thulasizwe Thomo, Executive Mayor of Gert Sibande District Municipality Cllr Walter Matukutela Mngomezulu, the Dube family, government officials, educators, learners and other distinguished guests in commemorating this historic occasion.
